Lunar Retreat

Choreographer Nichole Canuso collaborates with visual artist and ocean explorer Rebecca Rutstein, experimental sound designer Bobby McElver, scenic designer Anna Kiraly, multimedia video designer Kate Freer, and a cast of dancers to create an immersive and multi-sensory performance experience. Lunar Retreat is inspired by the growing distance between the Earth and the Moon, reflecting on humans’ deep evolutionary ties to the ocean and the interconnectedness of the natural world. Structured to support multiple tiers of audience engagement, the experience is an invitation to explore individual and collective relationships to care, grief, and transformation in poetic, playful, and communal ways.
