Rutstein was one of fifteen finalists from over 3,300 applicants to be awarded a micro-grant, “in recognition of the caliber and ambition of their practice; artists whose work reflects the spirit of curiosity, experimentation, and human connection that inspired Bobby’s own practice.” In addition to their inaugural flagship grants, in recognition of the extraordinary depth of the applicant pool, the Foundation chose to award the fifteen micro-grants to a select group of finalists.

The Bobby Anspach Studios Foundation was established to carry forward the vision of Bobby Anspach: that art holds the power to fundamentally transform how we understand ourselves and each other.  The foundation supports artists whose practices expand empathy, nurture connection, and respond to the ecological and social challenges of our time.
